"Nutrition is a funny science. It’s the only field where people can scientifically prove opposing theories and still be right."

Effective home fitness equipment only cost me AU$37 on ebay. Chin up bar with varying grips, plus 'ab straps'. This fits easily onto most standard door frames.
Chin ups are the "squat" for the upper body. You get huge bang for your buck doing chin ups, work several muscle groups at the same time, and you don't need to go to the gym all the time or at all to work on developing super strength like this. In fact you can have chin up competitions at home with your family or friends so it also makes for a good party trick device
The great thing about having a chin up bar at home is you can practise at any time, and even if you haven't done a chin up ever before and can't when you first start, if you persist you will likely manage one soon enough, then another, then another. It is a very satisfying experience being able to do chin ups, then you can go to the gym and show off your skills
The ab straps can help you to develop your core and ab strength, which ties in beautifully with chin ups. Ab straps are a great addition to the chin up bar (and cost $11 out of the $37 I had spent on my combined contraption).
For tips on getting started with chin ups, or how to further develop and improve if you are a bit ahead beginner status, or even just for an entertaining read on the history, beauty and significance of chin ups, see here: http://www.charlespoliquin.com/ArticlesMultimedia/Articles/Article/567/Chin-ups_The_King_of_Upper_Body_Exercises.aspx
Please think twice when considering modern SOY foods...
If you are a man, it can feminise you. If you are a woman, it can make your health and sexual function sub-optimal. It messes with hormones and decreases thyroid function. It causes cysts (ovaries, breast etc). If your baby is on soy, it can cause premature sexual development. It is worth reading more about soy if your baby is having soy to make your own informed decision to find an alternative.
Soy increases a woman's chance of getting PCOS, breast and for men prostrate cancers in particular, not to mention all other risks of cancer it links to.
Soy is highly oestrogenic. Too much oestrogen/sxeno-oestrogen in humans is another HUGE can of worms (another separate post for later!). If you come and get your BioSignature measurements done I can let you know if oestrogen is a priority for you and if your need to work on reduction/prevention (particularly if you have the tendency to accumulate fat around your thigh area) - regardless of soy. Soy just adds to the problem. A lot.
Most soy products in modern Western cultures are also produced using GMO farming which you probably don't know about! GMO farming is currently illegal in Australia, however importing of GMO foods here are not, and they don't all have to be listed YET on the ingredients label. Assume unless there is a "NO GMO" label, or it specifically states it is all grown and produced within Australia only, that there is more than likely GMO in your soy foods. GMO is the devil for health, I will post about it another time also.
I was going to actually write an article on Soy, however this one sums it up very well, and you can trust the Weston Price Foundation for the truth about food and nutrition.
Please READ this and SHARE it with others you know (and care about) who you know eat or drink soy on a regular basis: http://www.westonaprice.org/soy-alert/soy-alert-brochure
BACTERIA IN YOUR BODY - WHY BALANCE OF GOOD AND BAD ARE CRUCIAL TO HEALTH:
Regarding good vs bad bacteria and some base education on the importance of balanced bacteria in your gut/body (and how imbalances can be a root cause of a myriad of health problems), this article is easy to read and comprehensible for most. Enjoy:
HAIR TISSUE MINERAL TESTING CAN BENEFIT ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE - INCLUDING PEOPLE WANTING TO LOSE FAT WHO HAVE STRUGGLED AND CAN NOT WORK OUT WHY!
WANT TO KNOW MORE AND WHY?
Most clients (and family or friends) that I have the great opportunity to work with, are keen to get a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) test when I consult them.
Every single time and without fail, a HTMA test provides intensive and practical information on mineral/nutrient status, mineral balances & imbalances plus heavy metal status of the client - which usually reflects their history or current conditions/complaints, and for them it is highly comforting to see results which reflect possible whys/hows or wheres to start to work on the issue. This way I can also advise without guessing and know when it is time to refer someone on, and who to refer them on to if this should be the case. This happens quite often with quite sick clients (and I do get these often!) and we refer on to a special practitioner for more testing, then work together on healing for the client. This works very well as not only do I provide baseline results for the other practitioner, I also like to think of myself as a second pair of eyes for the client so they feel comfortable and supported throughout any process of healing/better health.
If you are having trouble shifting body fat/losing weight, understanding your body and which foods to give it, have gut problems (even as simple as bloating, gas, belching, not just IBS or other chronic conditions) that only seem to get worse, experience mood swings, irritation, skin problems, hormone problems (the list is endless)... then is would be worth doing a HTMA test. It is non-invasive and does not cost a lot to get such a valuable insight into yourself.
I have a background in Personal Training, with focus on rehabilitation and nutrition. I am also a BioSignature Practitioner and practise everything that I preach. And my whole family practises what I preach too so we walk the talk.
For HTMA testing, I work with InterClinical Laboratories in Australia. It costs $150 for a test including a comprehensive report including explanations and recommendations associated with your test results.
This could be the start of improving your life. I have chosen to be a Health Coach to specialise in and focus on body composition (READ: FAT LOSS) which I tailor very specifically to each individual, basing it from tests like HTMA & BioSignature Modulation, blood work, plus your history, assessing how/what/when you eat plus what activity or movement you do for both strength, movement and relaxation.
With focus on HTMA testing in this post, it can help you A LOT with working on body composition.
There is nothing "one-size" about your unique body so why be lured into more marketing campaigns for magic potions and powders which are supposed to increase your muscle size or promote fast fat loss (AND they promise reduction in the areas you want it to go!) when it knows absolutely nothing about you or your hormones, or the environment in which you live or grew up, or how you eat, what underlying things may need work, what your gut bacteria is like, ETC, before you even pick up a tub of something magical?
HTMA testing also provides an insight into your metabolic type (i.e. indications for which ratios and types of carbs/fats/proteins) your body may be best suited to, and even from that metabolic type, whether the type is indicative of having been sped up or slowed down from certain elements of emotional or physical stress, or heavy metals (which are surprisingly very common), or adrenal fatigue, and explores suggestions on how to try to correct this process through the correct supplementation and food.
HTMA testing provides such a wonderful insight and also takes a lot of the guesswork out of supplementing. You can see which supplements may be necessary to boost certain minerals or balance out certain problems, and helps determine whether you might benefit from a certain type of detox or healing protocol or even if your electrolyte balance is out of whack.
I will provide more information on my website once this is up and running. Not long to go and thank you for being so patient.
In the meantime, here is some more information from Michael McEvoy of Metabolic Healing: http://metabolichealing.com/michael-s-blog/here-s-what-this-incredible-lab-test-can-show-you/
List of GMO products - this is an overseas list so some do not necessarily apply in Australia, but there are also a lot of items we do purchase/sell here - scary. Stay away from these items. If you want more information on why GMO is so bad let me know!
Got my HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) test results back today.
I have a SLOW metabolism for whatever reason I can work on. Point of revealing this is, looking at me you would not think I have a slow metabolism. But doing relevant tests on a regular basis like HTMA and BioSignature combined (which I get done even as a practitioner who offers/advises this) mean you can take a lot of guesswork out of dietary, nutritional, supplementation requirements and imbalances.
When it comes to food and supplements, one person's medicine can be another's poison. It is too true.
From recent BioSignature, Blood and HTMA tests I can now define much more clearly what I need to focus on, which foods to eat and which to avoid, how often I should eat, ratios of macros, supplements I should introduce and those I should avoid until next testing. It takes all the guesswork out.
Better to test if you want optimal results!
I will be offering these services come July. Website details will be up soon. Bear with me as I manage getting my new business underway while being a full time mum with 2 kids under 2!
